I’m sharing some of my poems that I wrote a little over a year ago. Most haven’t been edited and I’m not sure I’ll ever go back and do anything with them. I’m still sharing anyway for posterity. Please do not copy.
MOTHER WOLF By Maggie Burleson
18 lines
The red wolf howls at the night’s new moon,
Unafraid of the dark and light,
Looking for winter Roses in June.
In places where the Night Jasmine blooms,
And shadow demons create fright,
The red wolf howls at the night’s new moon.
Though the shadows will swallow her soon,
She wonders on into the night,
Looking for winter Roses in June.
The sight of fresh love creates her tomb,
And she no longer sees the night,
The red wolf howls at the night’s new moon.
For love is shadows and fades by moon,
So broken hearts do not touch light,
The red wolf howls at the night’s new moon,
Looking for winter Roses in June.
